How can I fix drummy tiles?

How can I fix drummy tiles?

Everyone has at some point come across drummy tiles in their bathroom, kitchen or outdoor area. That tell tale 'thunk' that your tile makes every time you tread on it can drive a person mad! If left untreated, a drummy tile can quickly become a danger to you and your family, as increasing pressure on a drummy tile can cause it to crack.

It is a common misconception that drummy tiles can not be fixed. Most tile stores and tilers will tell you that it was a previous tiler's fault and that the only option is to rip all the tiles up and start from scratch. This is not the case, and will end up costing you a lot of money if you follow their advice!

A drummy tile occurs when the tile has not been laid correctly, whether it be because of an off batch of adhesive, not enough adhesive used, poor substrate or incorrect application of the adhesive. This often appears with age in most tiled areas and is not the end of the world if you start to hear that 'thunk' underfoot.

The area under a section of 'drummy tiles', the adhesive has not stuck to the substrate at all!
Luckily for us, tile injection technology means that no longer is our only option to rip up and relay the tiles. With our 'drill and fill' tile restoration technique using a special adhesive mixture, your tiles can be good as new within the same day, without any dust or hassle!

The tile injection adhesive works it's way into the hollows created by the deteriorated tile glue and reforms the bond between the tile and the substrate. This strengthens the tile, removes the hollow drummy sound and means you can avoid dipping into your back pocket.

So what happens after Barefoot Floors have 'injected my tiles'?

Once a tile has been identified as 'drummy' or loose, Barefoot Floors inject the unique tile restoration adhesive into the tile via the grout line-once this sets (approx 24-48 hours), your tile will have re-bonded to the substrate, and will be ready to walk on! No mess, fuss or intrusion to your daily life.

Once the tile has been injected and the adhesive is set, it's going nowhere!
